This is from my Books page, on which you will find reviews of all of my favorites.
“Of course, the publishers only care about their bottom line, so they tried to convince me to stretch that material into four books. That’s bullshit. I hate it when a writer puts out a tiny book just to squeeze every last cent out of me, especially if that half-book contains subpar material. I hate it when writers I like do that to me, so I refuse to do that to my fans.”
This is the best endorsement I can give of Tucker Max: if Sloppy had been my first book, everyone would find it wildly hilarious and it would be a huge success. But since it’s Tucker Max’s fourth, comparatively, Sloppy is weak. There were fewer laugh-out-loud moments, after averaging 5-10 in each of his previous three. But Tucker knew this, which is why he put Sloppy out digitally completely free for anyone. He knew the stories didn’t compare, and didn’t want to cheat his fans with a weak plate. I applaud the
man for this.
But don’t mistake it: if Sloppy is your introduction to Tucker Max, that’s like a basketball fan’s first memory of Michael Jordan being MJ with the Wizards. You gotta get the full experience.
