a short summary/ review of some of my favorite posts from the year that was…
(faceook users- if the links dont show, check me at http://drepaperwork.blogspot.com/2007/12/wrap-up-2007.html)
- i didnt get bak to my blog until the 10th day of 2007, thanks to some prior endeavors. but i dont think i ever look young enough to be carded at a dam basketball gym…
- i still think everything is competition. you agree with me? i win.
- my flagship post theme: Funniest Moments, pt. nine and ten speak for themselves (although the laugh-it up vid has been removed from youtube to keep it all bball related. sorry, everyne. your welcome, ashley.)
- march was my strongest month of 07 with a robust 15 posts and the first ever Dre-A-Thon!! taking place. please, people dont get mad. and the kitchen sink at wes’ old apt in state college probably still induces vomiting-in-the-mouth. and im still not quite sure who wins the dunk contest between wes and the girl. you be the judge.
- someone needed to be clowned, and i took advantage of the opportunity.
- while im thinking about it, shout out to dime magazine. (you can still vote for me. )
- Funniest Moments pt.11 at penn state, was classic. i had a neat idea of what to do for the occasion that never panned out, so ill keep that in th vault until the time is right.
- some old white ladies workin the counter at Arby’s in southern georgia tried to play me. but boy, i showed them.
- a hop, skip, and a jump to frankfurt, germany.
- monique inspires me. and im not a bbw.
- rip to ed griffin. from the same neighborhood, but i never knew him.
- i jumped the gun on your jumping the gun on mike vick. uh…, lets move on…
- when jena 6 don’t exist, tell ‘em that’s when ill stop sayin bitch, ……………..!!!
- i entered a bball video contest on some wack- ass website and won, but lost. the guy that won got a tryout with an aba team. h had about as much chance of making that team as that forementioned wack website has of ever being mentioned in this blog again.
- yes, my mom came to my school and spanked me in front of the entire class. performance anxiety, hello…
- a power- tripping assistant manager at champs sports tried to play me. i reacted, and he called mall security. really.
- i didnt change it ’til i signed another contract.
SAFE & HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL. LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN IN 2008. MAKE. IT. HAPPEN.

whas good dime, i was at the bk 3 on 3 in Philly today. first off, shout out to
y’all for writing about it in Fridays smack, cuz i had no idea it was happening
till 3pm Friday, and managed to piece together a squad in time to go hoop. the
shit was off the hook. it was about 65 teams there. loved the giveaways to all
the teams, finally got me a dime t shirt lol… the team that won is def. tough.
they basically out- toughed everyone en route to winning the shit. bottom line.
my team (DTW) came in about 6th place out of all of em… and one of our
players (my bro in law…. hey, i told u it was short notice) hadn’t played
a 3 on 3 or 5 on 5 game in 5 years. but as we speak, im gettin 3 of my college
teammates on board for a road trip to bmore next Saturday. send some larger
sized t shirts there!!! holla at me,
aight where do i fuckin begin… we didnt win the BK 3 on 3 in philly today. we came in 6th place out of 70 teams in attendance. our team: me, tone (teammate from college, PG), and my brother n law, will (didnt play in college, has a 6 month old child, hasnt played a competeitive game of bball since 2001). considering i was the tallest player on my team, we turned in a hell of a performance.
but, please dont mistake that last sentence for me having a feeling of satisafction.
this tournament was very winnable with the right combination of players (ahem, B, Wes, Tone, Cellus)… our two losses came at the hands of the team that won the whole shit (more in them in a second), and a team we should have beaten, but this particular team was smart enough to expose our weakest link/ player in Will (which is IMPOSSIBLE to hide in a 3 on 3).
i dont mean at all to trash will; he’s not a bball player, and if u look at all the other top- 10 teams, every single player is one who plays ball at leats 5 times a week (you can look at a player and know this). he played his ass off with what he had. tone was killin, under control and producing buckets as needed. i did my thing as well, but grade myself as sub-par in our two losses (no way i play my best and lose).
there are photos coming as soon as i get them from the phtographers on site and dimemag.com/ bk3on3.com…. there is at least one really good one, cuz i saw it myself. so you have sumthin to look forward to.
ok, highlight of the tourney: a team of females (the only females in thw whole shit) directly eliminated a team early on, handng them ther second loss. at he time of the game in question, there were 4 games going on at once. but, with the game ptiitn two teams that had both lost their forst games, loser goes home. the court was lned with evereyone whi wasnt participating in a game at the time (vision: you dribble the ball near the sideline or baseline, a fan could reach out and take it out of your hands. THAT close). celebrity hosts colby colb (local radio in philly) and big tigger hyped the game up as well, drawing the walkers by to take a gander (tournament was at penn’s landing…. for those of you who have been there, you know how people come there just to walk and enjoy the weather and views).
well anyway, the entire crowd was pulling for the females (the opposing team did help themselves by having two loudmouth players who responded to each and every thing said by an opponent in a loud, combative way), oooh-ing and aaahhh- ing with every basket. there was one particular instance when one of the girls faked a dude with a hands- up move at the 3 point line on the wing, drove by him (looking back at him in mock disgust in the process), and laying the ball in. crowd response: PANDEMONIUM (for those of you not familiar with the hood, or streetball, a scene like this will cause the fans to rush the court for no particular reason, throwing their fitted hats in the air, laughing in the face of the victims, and giving game officials a reason to pause the game to restore order, which in turn allows the pandemonium- enducing moment to soak in even more)!!! it also did not help the dudes’ cause that there were at least 5 video cameras that captured the moment (this WILL appear online within the week… and of course ill bring it to you).
aight enough about everybody else. lets talk abut me. this loss has definitley got me itching to get back to the lab and workout. even tho most of the guys i faced today are essentiallly streetballers who have 9- to- 5 jobs during the week, i still feel i didnt prove as much as i wanted today. being a pro, playing wherever, and siging whatever contracts means nothing when you step onto the court in streetball. this is where reputations are made. i wonder to myself how many people saw me play today and said “dam, that dude must play pro ball somewhere”… im 100% sure that les than 100% of the prople sad that, so that means i got work to do. yall know where to find me.
oh hyeah, the same tourney travels to baltimore next saturday. refer to MySpace message above for how i feel abot that. 100.
