Workout/ Training FAQ

  • How Many shots do you shoot/ should I shoot per day? As many as I choose; sometimes I don’t even count. As for you, that is for you to decide. Be your own player and make you own way.
  • Will using weights stunt my growth? No.
  • I live in _________ (some are other than Miami, where Dre Baldwin lives). Can you train me? Sure — pay for my flight, food, hotel, and training fees, and I’ll be there!
  • I want to work out with you sometime. Only if working out with you can make me better. If not, you can hire me as a trainer.
  • I heard _________ (some training technique, idea or program) will ___________ (physical result) . How can I do this? Ask the person you heard it from. If I say something, I told you why and how when I said it.
  • Dre, __________________ (some inane personal problem of yours). What should I do? Can you give me some tips? Any form of “what should I do” will get this response form me: It’s your life. Live it and make your own decisions.
  • I watch all of your videos and I want to be a really good basketball player. I appreciate you watching my vids. If you want to be good at basketball, get off the computer and go make yourself good.
  • Can you train me/ send me a shirt/ mail me a DVD for free? No.
  • I need tips on ___________. (This statement receives no response. If you want something from me, ask for it. Remember to say ‘please.’)
  • I’m having this problem (you describe your specific issue). Any tips? Play more. Practice more. learn from experience, improve from practice.
  • Can I dunk? Answer is here.
  • How do I (certain move, technique, or shot) perfectly like (name of your favorite player)? Practice a lot, like that player did.
  • I have a (big game/ tryout) tomorrow. Any tips? Bring your shoes, be on time. Avoid eating Taco Bell before playing. Trust me.
  • I can’t dunk or dribble well because my hands are too small to palm the ball. What can I do? About your hand size, nothing. But a lot of great players don’t palm the ball — which means your excuse is just that, an excuse.
  • What basketball shoes should I get? There are shoes that I like, but no company pays me to endorse their product. Thusly, you will have to decide on your own what to wear. When I have an endorsement deal, I will gladly tell you exactly what to buy.
  • I’m from (your location) and basketball is not big here. What should I do? Stop using your environment as an excuse.
  • I have (certain injury). What can I do while I’m injured to maintain my skills? Whatever the doctor told you you can do.
