#202: It’s Important To Be Important [WOYG Podcast]

Scroll this

It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice. I don’t know who originally said this, but a lot of people have agreed with it.

Taken this idea and espoused being nice, which means agreeable and adequate, over being important, which means being a priority and top-of-mind.

Today, I examine exactly what this cliche means, and how you will turn it on its head and start living as if you expect to be important. Because nice, unimportant people don’t get things done, and they’re never remembered.

  1. I’ve heard the saying before but never paid any attention to it, never really resonated with me. It’s always good to be aware of these pitfalls with sayings and comments that people, who may have good intentions, make to try and reign you in.

I love the idea of deciding whether something is important or just nice. If it’s important, do it. If it’s nice you can decide to do it after the important thing or after you’ve achieved success, as a reward. Watching a movie is nice, but not important. Doing the work is important. Getting to where I want to be is important.

The value you provide Dre just pops out. Listening to the WOYG podcast is important, gets my head right and keeps it there.
