Bruce Lee said to never be in direct opposition to circumstances. Seneca share a similar philosophy in his Stoic Letters. Both argued that, paradoxically, going with what happens, rather than fighting against it, is the easiest way to tune situations in our favor.
Which brings us to today’s topic of dealing with other people.
If you deal with lots of people on a daily basis, you know how nasty a situation can turn because a simple disagreement. Disagreement places people opposite of each other, and our reptilian brains know only one way to respond to such a (perceived) challenge: we fight back.
Then all kinds of messiness happens.
Today is about developing the habit of agreement — yes, even when the other guy is a complete fool. I’ll explain how it works. Take notes.
