You may be familiar with the phrase, “How you do anything is how you do everything.”
Personally I know I have at times out more energy and vigor into certain activities and been listless in others. Thinking about that principle makes me “remember to remember” that that energy needs to apply across the board, all day. Those reminders get me moving faster, thinking sharper, paying keener attention, making my time matter a lot more.
I think about the stories of people who have been close to death — shooting or accident victims, those who fought off grave diseases — and how they all talk about living as if there is no tomorrow, because they know what that really feels like. There literally was no next day for them at one point, and they all said some of the same things:
- I hadn’t done shit in my life to that point.
- I had been wasting a lot of my time.
- I decided to get focused with my second chance and really live like I had never lived before.
I don’t think I want to get shot to have that feeling, but I do my best to manufacture it.
