Book Review: Moneyball

August 19, 2009

This is a review from my Favorite Books list; the link from which will be also on the Books Page.

“There’s this belief that a baseball team starts with the manager first. It doesn’t.”

Moneyball, and Oakland A’s General Manager Billy Beane, set the baseball establishment on its ear when this book came out. What Beane was doing was going against many of the long-held truths of what made a baseball player good or not good, and using the new paradigms to produce winning season with very low payrolls. and the book goes way deeper than that. Just read it!
