Book Review: The Pre-Paid Legal Story

August 19, 2009

This is a review from my Favorite Books list; the link from which will be also on the Books Page.

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world of full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”

Pre-Paid Legal is a compnay I did a lot of business with at the tai end of my college days and into the years after school in whcih I basically sold legal insurance. Great cmpany, too, that is still around and doing well; my basketball pursuits pushed my PPL business out of the picture.

I’ve met Harland C. Stonecipher, the founder of PPL and author of this book. he started the company when he got into a car accident and realized the legal fees were worth more than he stood the receive even if he won his case. He started his own company to fill this void in the marketplace, and PPL has steadily built into a very useful niche product for now. The day is coming when everyone will need to have legal insurance just as we have auto insurance.
