Book Review: Tongue Fu!

November 16, 2010

This is a review from my Favorite Books list; the link from which will be also on the Books Page.

“The purpose of kung fu is to diffuse, disarm, and deflect someone’s phsysical attack. The purpose of Tongue Fu! is to diffuse, disarm, and deflect someone’s psychological attack. “

Sam Horn specializes in human communication so it’s no surprise that I breeze through her works: it feels like the reader & author are having a conversation.

Sam Horn’s books always have two great qualities: 1) The chapters are short; 2) Many, many quotes and real-life examples are used. That’s why I will read anything she publishes.

Contrary to how it may sound, Tongue Fu! is not an instructional manual on verbal competition. As I learned in the book’s intro, the art of Kung Fu is the practice of internal development. Tongue Fu! teaches how to disarm, diffuse, and deflect the verbal assaults that may come your way. Tongue Fu! a very valuable learning tool to cure anyone with the argument-winner gene like myself. I’ll still have the verbal destruction option in my back pocket, though. *smile*
