Dead Weight: Are Your Friends Making You Better Or Worse? - Dre BaldwinI talked before about how you probably don’t need to add more things to your life and your psyche — you’d benefit a lot by letting some shit go.

Your friends might be a good place to look.

It’s been said that you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Take a good look at those people. Are they above or below you in the areas of life that matter to you? Look at each person individually. If you woke up tomorrow and had their abilities, their vocabulary, their possessions, their habits, their relationships, their reputation, would you be happy? Would it be a move upward or downward?

Drop the weight and you’ll travel a faster and farther. Doesn’t mean you never speak to them again, but you need to slowly withdraw and repurpose that now- direct time and energy toward becoming what you do want.
