I always looked at holidays as a chance to gain time: Either gaining ground on those ahead of me, or getting further ahead of those behind me.
Even Before I could’ve explained it, I never wanted to always do what everyone else was doing. It just didn’t make sense to me that I would ever get ahead or stay ahead if I was doing the same as “them.”
Maybe this Mindset is why I wasn’t often invited to the cookouts and parties.

If it’s there, and no one else wants it, you don’t even have to fight for it.
You just have to show up.
