You cannot spread yourself thin when your abilities are thick.
My favorite athlete Deion Sanders once said, “If you have more than one skill, you should be getting more than one check.”
If you’re good at 3 things you should be doing them all in some way, contributing to society and reaping the rewards of that contribution. Who does only one thing these days anyway? 2015 is the day of the multi-skilled individual. But what if you’re good at 5 things? 12? 20?
Do them all. Why die with music still in you? Who does that benefit?
You’re only spread thin when you’re out of your skill areas. Know your strengths (Sally Hogshead’s book that I recently reviewed is a great place to start) and press your advantage.
