I hate these shirts.
Not because it’s LeBron — I’m a fan of him — or Nike; I’m a consumer.
I don’t like that our most recognizable basketball player feels the need to announce that there’s more to him than sports — and is encouraging other athletes to make the same declaration on a t-shirt.
Aren’t we far past this?

- I guess I understand the move from LeBron’s perspective. He and others took the shut up and dribble controversy and ran with it, defiantly (?) announcing that basketball players would NOT just shut up and dribble, asserting their human right to speak out about important social issues. That whole thing was kind of pitiful. Responding to what some FOX talking head blurred out and announcing that you’ll do the opposite… I like LeBron and Kevin Durant; the whole show of it was just childish. Directly refuting a critique in this way kind of legitimizes the critique, just through repetition if nothing else.
